Our Visit To Werribee Park
Leaving Fleet Street our group made its way through the city, over the Westgate bridge onto the Geelong road heading for Werribee.
At the beginning, the weather was not the kindest but on reaching our roadside coffee stop the sun came out and we had a pleasant time enjoying our coffee and biscuits in the sunshine.
It was then onto Werribee Mansions, where, on arrival we were given a talk on the history of the buildings and owners over the past years.
We were then given recorders which enabled each of us to inspect and listen to the description of each room and its history. and hear people, such as Dame Nellie Melba singing
After our inspection we made our way to the rose garden where we viewed the many roses on display
It was then onto a local restaurant, Wyndham Cache, where we enjoyed a delightful luncheon. On conclusion we boarded our bus back to Fleet street.
Many thanks to the organisers , Arthur and Ron for an enjoyable outing.
